You can cross-probe instances in the Virtuoso® Schematic window to the corresponding instances in the Animate Preview window. 

From the Schematic, select (left-click) an instance. The corresponding instance in the layout will be highlighted in the Preview window.

Note you cannot cross-probe from the Preview window to the Virtuoso® Schematic.
